A man has died after falling into a woodchipper while clearing a driveway near Gympie.
According to 7 News, the 54-year-old was working on a rural property at Goomboorian with two other friends when the work went horribly wrong.
The man, who hired the woodchipper, was feeding branches through about 7.40pm on Sunday when he fell into the machine.
“He’s become entangled, the circumstances of which are now under investigation,” a police spokesperson said.
“It was actually quite horrific.
“His friends discovered him as he became entangled and attempted to extract him from the shredder and were unable to do so.
“They are obviously quite traumatised now.”
Sadly the man died instantly.
Police and workplace health and safety officials are investigating, with the machine seized.
