Nicolas Cage’s son is facing the possibility of up to a year in jail, after being his with three formal charges stemming from an early February police car chase.
According to TMZ, Weston Cage – whose vehicular run from police in Los Angeles’ San Fenrando Valley came to an end with he smashed into a tree – has racked up a DUI charge, as well as two counts of hit and run.
The website quotes law enforcement sources as saying that the 26-year-old’s blood alcohol was .15 at the time of the incident – almost double the legal limit.

Things began to unravel for the aspiring actor as he got into a vehicular accident on his drive home, and exchanged information with the other driver.
According to reports, Weston decided to then flee the scene before police arrived.
The police chase occurred just one mile away from the accident and ended when he crashed into a tree – after he hit several mailboxes and a stop sign.
The father-of-one – who also lost a tyre during the chase – was arrested on the lawn of a residence; he was driving a Chevy Camaro.

The musician went to the hospital to get checked for injuries before he was booked, according to TMZ.
Weston is the son of Nicolas, 53 and his ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton. He is dad to two-year-old son Lucian Coppola Cage with Danielle Cage.
In 2011, Weston was arrested for domestic violence on two different occasions in July while married to his first wife Nikki Williams.
In 2015 the musician told DailyMail.com exclusively that he got sober for his son Lucas who is now aged three.
‘He saved my life because as soon as I saw him I didn’t want to drink anymore,’ he told DailyMail.com. ‘It’s been over one year and I have not had a drop of alcohol. It’s just not worth it. And I don’t miss the hangovers.
‘Life if getting better and better, it’s more positive,’ said the singer.’
He said at the time his turn for the better started in 2013 when he married wife Danielle in London.
‘I really changed once I met her,’ the actor said. ‘She’s beautiful and a great person. She’s balanced. We met through a friend. As soon as we started talking we clicked. We became friends and then we started falling in love.’
He added, ‘She embodies everything I love, she is the definition of perfection. She is extremely loving, and beautiful inside and out.’
The two found out she was pregnant just two days before their wedding.
