Sharp contrast shapes stylish build

There is nothing quite as elegant as black and white when it comes to design.

The pair offer timeless sophistication, interwoven with subtle contrasts and accents to complement the finer details, while bolder elements make for a grand statement.

Hidden amongst the leafy streets of Mount Pleasant sits one home that encapsulates the sheer elegance only a black and white design could.

Built by Steadman Homes for a young family, the home is a testament to quality designs reflective of family living.

“Steadman Homes is our single and double-storey brand backed by our flagship brand, Signature Custom Homes,” Steadman Homes General Manager Jake Steadman said. “With a heavy design focus, we closely collaborate with clients starting with our standard designs or creating a new custom design, which offers a truly personalised service the same as if they were building a Signature Custom Home.” The design takes the four-bedroom and three-and-half-bathroom plan and elevates it to the next level, with luxury designs and stunning finishes that bring a wave of awe to anyone who visits.

The impressive build sits on a 12.5m-wide block, cleverly designed to include a fourcar garage among its many other features dotted throughout.

The front facade creates intrigue and interest through its mix of light and dark tones, while the different window arrangements form an integral part of the design.

“The front facade has been designed with a modern contemporary influence,” Mr Steadman said. “The client originally came to us with the idea and we brought it to life for them.”

The front entrance is tucked away off the side, opening to an entry foyer featuring 600 by 300mm marble tiles and a grey polished plaster finish feature wall for a striking visual impact on arrival.

“It is definitely a modern-style home, without doubt,” Mr Steadman said. “It has a darker colour palette, balanced with expansive windows allowing natural light. It’s not your typical light-toned or white house, which is a nice change.”

The intimate entrance hall extends along the side of the home with large windows that look outwards to the plunge pool, before the hallway spills out into one sweeping zone with the kitchen, dining and living areas.

Darker tones echo throughout the area with dark taps, a black splashback and the feature fireplace surround, while shades of grey and white keep the scheme feeling clean and crisp.

“There is plenty of cabinetry throughout the home, especially in the kitchen and scullery, which creates ample storage and is perfect for families,” Mr Steadman said.

“It is a great home to showcase because it is a larger-style home; it is modern and has features everybody is looking for.” Extra wide stacking doors open the area up to the alfresco and plunge pool for an extra splash of luxury.

Heading back through the lower floor, the guest suite resides at the front of the home with white timber shutters adding a Hamptons-style influence.

The stairwell is the true hero though, with its feature treads extending up and around in a geometric half-turn, in front of the visually striking feature wall.

Floor-to-ceiling double height windows add another impressive element to the space, letting in streams of natural light, while at night the lighting fixture adds a stylish touch. “This house is full of beautiful finishes; stone benchtops, full height tiling to the ensuites and bathrooms, highquality appliances and external washed aggregate,” Mr Steadman said. “It’s a high-quality finish with a luxurious feel.”

Upstairs features the parents’ retreat, with a walk-in robe and stunning open-plan ensuite complete with freestanding bath and floor-to-ceiling tiling for the ultimate in luxury. Meanwhile two kids’ bedrooms sit at the opposite end, with stylish light fittings and white timber shutters along with an expanse of mirror door built-in robes.

“The homeowners came to us with a concept and we collaborated with them to bring their ideas to life,” Mr Steadman said. “We added a few things with a touch of our own flair and design influence.”

“They were extremely satisfied with the final result.”
