Not content with just speeding through a Perth school zone at 15km/h over the limit, one unlucky driver was also caught using their mobile phone.
According to a Twitter post from WA Police, the double whammy has cost that driver $600 and five demerit points — $400 for using their phone and three demerit points, and $200 for the speeding offence, plus two demerits.
The officer’s post about the driver, who was caught in Mandurah, said: “A quick phone call, should not be using mobile phone and speeding in a school zone. Worth it?”.
It ended with the hashtag #riskybusiness.
Police had earlier nabbed a driver of a Holden for using their phone while travelling along Wellard Road in Kwinana.
The excuse for what police described as the car “weaving everywhere” was: “I was just changing the music”.
The driver copped three demerit points and a $400 fine.
