A Sydney architect rode a wave of public support to scoop two prizes at the 2017 Sculpture by the Sea exhibition.
Lucy Humphrey’s Horizon won both the People’s Choice and Kids’ Choice prizes on Saturday afternoon, netting her a combined $7000.
At a presentation at Cottesloe Beach, Ms Humphrey said: “My favourite thing by far is always audience reaction, and it’s a joy to see how children respond to the work.
“One of the best parts of this show is that it gives children the chance to engage with art.”
On her first trip to WA, Ms Humphrey thanked the event’s staff and said: “It was an honour to be part of such a beautiful show in such a stunning location.”
Both awards were presented by Foreign Minister and Curtin MP Julie Bishop.
The exhibition saw 77 sculptures from local and international artists displayed along Cottesloe Beach. It finishes on Monday.
