A man has died and a child is in a critical condition following a house fire in Thornlie on Wednesday night.

WA Police Inspector Dean Snashall said a 69-year-old-man and a four year-old boy were found unconscious at the Rushbrook Way property when firefighters arrived shortly after 6pm.

The pair were taken by ambulance to Fiona Stanley Hospital in a critical condition.

The man later died in FSH while the child is still in a critical condition after being transferred to Perth Children’s Hospital.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
