Coffee addicts and their pooches will have to find somewhere else to go for their dog days out after one of Perth’s most popular pet-friendly cafes revealed it had been forced to close its doors.
Pet Lover’s Cafe on Guildford Road in Maylands took to social media yesterday to tell its more than 10,700 Facebook fans that it had made the tough decision to pack away the tables, chairs and water bowls.
Seven people have lost their jobs.
The post has so far attracted close to 1000 reactions and hundreds have shared their sadness at the news.
One post read: “This is so very sad. I know my two dogs and us humans will be disappointed as we loved going here, and the last time we were here the fur kids were so relaxed and had fun playing. I wish you all good luck and thank you.”
The Facebook post blamed tough economic times and hinted at rental price pressures.
“Despite putting our heart and soul into our business, the economic climate has made it impossible for us to stay open,” it said.
“We have been trying to negotiate a reduction while getting further behind.
“We sincerely apologise to our loyal customers for such short notice. We have tried so hard to keep the doors open as long as possible. Unfortunately, we have exhausted every avenue and we are emotionally, physically and financially broken.”
Owners Natalie and Garry thanked their loyal customers for their support.
“We would like to thank you so much for your support, we have loved every moment of this journey and wish you and your beloved pets all the best,” they said.
“We are just one of many business and families that are going through this right now so think small business and try to shop local when you can.”
